Camp Program

Frontier’s recreational program consists of a variety of activities geared toward the camper’s interests and needs.  This is successful because of our great staff who provides a 2:1 camper/staff ratio.  We employ specialists to initiate the following activities:

ARTS & CRAFTS:

We encourage creative expression among our campers.  Our specialist achieves this by exploring a variety of art forms & art therapy techniques.

SINGING CIRCLE:

Each morning Frontier begins their day at the singing circle.  All of the campers meet their groups and counselors to start the day with fun.  All of the campers and counselors, the entire camp, meet and sing camp songs together.

SWIMMING:

Children who enter our program will learn to feel comfortable in & around the pool.  The specialists will teach the children at the level & ability that they are most successful.

SPORTS & CAMPING:

Frontier advocates meaningful & positive peer interactions & cooperation.  Our sports program provides the children with basic rules about teamwork & how to play sports.  Our non-competitiveness encourages children to participate & allows for success.  Our nature program encourages campers to explore the relationship between themselves & their environment.  Frontier fosters respect for nature & animals.

GROUP TIME:

The Senior & Junior counselors create programs & activities for their individual groups.  These activities can range from sports, drama, & music, to group projects that promote our goal of positive interaction & skills.

QUIET TIME:

This time is dedicated to social skills & peer interactions.  Children learn to express & share their ideas & feelings with their group.  Such activities implemented may include: discussion of favorite vacations or places, show-&-tell, or cooperative reading.

FIELD TRIPS & ON-CAMPUS ACTIVITIES:

These activities are usually the most memorable experiences.  Frontier ventures out to the Zoo on the Zoo Bus & carpools to Bowling/Bumper Bowling & Roller-skating.  Please keep in mind that in order for our children to participate in carpool activities we will need parental/guardian volunteers.  We always appreciate those who can dedicate their time & participate in their child’s experiences.    Individual groups may also plan their own field trip experience.

Camp Dates & Times/Arrival & Departure

Camp will be held from Monday, June 27, 2005 until Friday, July 29, 2005 .  We begin our camp activities promptly at 10:00 a.m. and end at 3:30 p.m.   Do not drop off your children before 10:00 a.m. and do not leave your children unattended.  Frontier staff members must be present in order for you to drop off your child.  Only those individuals who are participating in Early Bird or tutoring may drop off their children after 8:30 a.m. and before 10:00 a.m.   Please contact the camp to arrange fee and registration for Early Bird and private tutoring.

Campers are expected to be picked up no later than 3:30 p.m.   In order to ensure the safety of our children, Frontier does not permit the children in the driveway or parking lot.  The drivers must park their cars in the parking lots and walk to the sidewalk and wait there to pick up campers.  The sidewalk is the only place where children may be received.  It is very important that your Senior and/or Junior Counselor know who is responsible for picking up your children.  If there are any changes, please let them know.
